Abbie’s Buddy Bench at Aldersgate Day School Playground. Alexandria, VA-The purpose of the bench will be integrated into the school’s instruction. The children will be encouraged to go sit on the bench if they are feeling sad or left out. They will be taught that if they see a friend sitting there, they should go invite them to play or otherwise go cheer them up. This will foster compassion and inclusivity that was so much a part of our sweet Abbie’s personality. It is our hope it will be a fitting memorial to her impact on all of us.
